Dundee Info

Dundee enjoys more hours of sunshine than any other city in Scotland, while the surrounding Tay region, with its abundance of charming towns and fishing villages dotting the east coast, provides a quality of life few regions can match.

There’s no better time to put down roots in Dundee. The Waterfront’s burgeoning regeneration will see a raft of new homes, shops, cafes, hotels, bars and restaurants lining the Tay, attracting discerning professionals who want to work in a place which complements their lifestyle.

Dundee’s centrality makes it easy to reach all of the key business hubs in Scotland, with Aberdeen and Inverness in the north and Glasgow and Edinburgh to the south.

V&A Dundee

An international centre of design, V&A Dundee presents the brilliance of Scottish creativity and the best of design from around the world. The first ever dedicated design museum in Scotland and the only other V&A museum anywhere in the world outside London, V&A Dundee provides a place of inspiration, discovery and learning through its mission to enrich lives through design.

The icing on the cake has come with the opening of the new Victoria and Albert Museum of Design on the Waterfront, enhancing the city’s already rich cultural offering and cementing its designation as the UK’s first UNESCO City of Design.

Dundee has a long history of enterprise and excellence, being home to two leading universities, including the University of Abertay with its world-renowned centre for computer arts, and Ninewells Hospital, one of Europe’s largest and most prestigious biotech and medicine research facilities. Dundee is also set to become a key hub for the oil and gas decommissioning industry, thanks to a major recent investment at Forth Ports

We are here to help families learn together, to support the formal schools curriculum, advance the science communication profession, bring together science and the public, and help others to do the same too. Our exhibitions provide an inspiring, hands-on learning experience for everyone to visit. Our outreach work and festivals also help us take the same experiences across Scotland and beyond.

Discovery Walk is a series of plaques honouring the achievements of scientists, innovators and social reformers of the past who either came from or had a strong connection to Dundee.

For some considerable time a number of independent groups and individuals have been quietly acquiring and preserving our local transport heritage. In February 2010 representatives from several local groups met with a view to establishing Dundee Museum of Transport (DMofT) and, on 2 June 2010, we were granted charitable status.
